Lately with economy being down, many people are starting to cook at home. I think personally it is a good thing, as we can eat healthier and much cheaper meals at home.
When I first started cooking, I did not care for cookware brands, I bought cookware that were on sale or cheapest. Of course, since then, I have learned that buying right and quality cookware is must for any kitchen so I do not have to keep buying cookware again and again. I follow 7 tips before you buy any cookware. There are some thin and cheap cookware that may last up to a few years or some cookware can last a life time such as my mom’s favorite dutch oven for 11 years.
Knowing about different cookware and kitchenware brands can help make some decision easier. For example, some brands are well known for their customer service, quality products and warranties. Some brands makes very good bake ware only, while some cookware brands are leader in small appliances: For example Kitchenaid is world leader for kitchen Mixers.
Here are a few of the well known cookware brands, that any cook should know about.
All-Clad
All Clad is well known brand for that started in 1960 and US based business from Pennsylvania. They sell many kitchenware including bake ware, kitchen tools and other kitchen accessories. All Clad have triple layer quality stainless steel cookwarewhich are loved by professional chefs and home cooks alike. William Sonoma and Emerilware by Food TV chef Emeril Lagasse brands are part of All-Clad family brand.
All Clad has great feature such as stay cool handles that are long and easy to grasp during cooking, flipping the food during cooking process and without burning your hand. I like that. Interior of All Clad is made with quality 304 stainless steel and surface is non reactive, meaning that food inside will not change its color or taste if you leave it inside the pan or pot. All Clad exterior are strong and made of 3-ply to 5-ply, meaning there is 3 to 5 layers of steel and other metals that are bonded together.
Most of the All Clad cookware is dishwasher safe. Overall, All Clad is quality cookware but can be on expensive side.

Anolon and Circulon
Actually Analon and Circulon are both different brands that are under now Meyer Corporation so I am putting them in one category. Circulon and Analon both make nonstick frying pans, cookware and nonstick saucepans. Their nonstick surface is bonded aluminum which is doubly strong to stainless steel. This non stick surface is known as hard anodized and can handle much abrasion compared to traditional nonstick coating and Teflon and will not peel away.
Circulon and Analon cookware are reasonable priced usually, not too cheap and not too expensive.

Lodge
The Lodge is an American company founded by Joseph Lodge in 1896 and one of the oldest cookware company in America which is still in operation. Lodge sells enamel cast iron dutch oven and other cast iron cookware and bake ware. In my opinion, Lodge is cheaper version of Le Creuset Cookware, as they tend to be lot cheaper and quality products. Lodge has limited warranty on their products. Some people may have problem as they have a cookware which is manufactured in china but I have found Lodge to be good quality product.
If you always wanted to cook in enamel coated cast iron cookware and could not afford the Le Creuset price, I would strongly recommend Lodge enamel based cookware.
